Elna Linnea Anderson Reagor
Elna Linnea Anderson Reagor, 88, of Rose Street, died peacefully May 5, 2006 surrounded by her family. Born December 9th, 1917 in Duluth, she was the seventh of eleven children born to August and Sigrid Anderson of Rose Street. Elna attended Washburn Elementary, East Junior High, graduated from Central High School in 1935, and attended the University of Minnesota where she graduated with a degree in Public Health Nursing in 1941. After working two years in the Meadowlands area, Elna joined the Army Nurse Corps in 1943, joining four of her brothers in the Armed Forces. She attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, then shipped out to England where she took part in the preparations for D-Day. Following the invasion, she left for France and helped set up field hospitals, the original MASH units, near the front lines. Elna married a young career officer, Elmer Reagor, whom she had dated at Fort Leonard Wood and met again in London. Together with their children, they traveled the world serving in Germany, Kentucky, California, Japan (during the Korean Conflict), Washington DC, Hawaii, and Montana until Elmer retired a full Colonel in 1966. The family moved to Duluth and Elna resumed working as a public health nurse, then as a nurse in the Duluth School System until retirement in 1977. Of adventuresome spirit, Elna loved to experience new people and cultures and taught her children to do the same. Though Elmer was finished with traveling, Elna continued with family and friends, traveling to Europe several times as well as Mexico, the Carribean, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Thailand. Her family was always her first priority, and she loved traveling and visiting them as well as her extended family, always ready to go to a wedding, graduation, child's birth, or any other event. Following Elmer's death in 1989, Elna moved to Albuquerque where she lived for 13 years, then moved back to Duluth in 2005. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Elna is preceded In death by her husband, Col. Elmer C. Reagor, ret. Her parents, her brothers Carl, Alvin, Edward, William, Victor, Gerald, and Arnold Anderson, and her sisters Elsa Weidenhoffer, and Nora Carlson. Survivors include her son Paul (Fran) Reagor of Shelby, Mont., their children Don Keith, and great grandchildren Amber, Alyssa, and Autumn; Debi (Mark) Olson, and great-grandchildren Stella, Geneva, and Wolfgang; and Cameron (Sara) Reagor, and great-grandchild Marshall; her son Dale (Cathy) Reagor of Helena, Mont., their children Tami (Rich) Jost, and great-grandchild Tyler; Jadin (Sherry) Jackson, great-granchildren Catherine, Amara, and Lillian; Danielle Reagor (Ryan Scharf); and Cami (Todd) Clevenger, and great-grandchildren Ricky and Creed; Her daughter Susan (John) McEwen of Duluth, their children Jennifer McEewen (Rich Updegrove), and great-grandchild Leif; and Kathryn McEwen (Colin Leo); her daughter Anne (Tom) Castle of Duluth, their children Brian, Daniel, and Michael Castle; her son David (Yoneko) Reagor of Los Alamos, N.M., Their children Jason and Mika Reagor; her step-daughter Cecile King and son Johnny King; her AFS son Chongrak Polprasert of Bangkok, Thailand; her sister Marion Redman of Wells, Minn.; her sister-in-law Geneva Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her sister-in-law Louise Reagor of DeSoto, TX; and many nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICES:11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Lunch will be served following service. Memorials preferred to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
